Jack White and Karen Elson call it quits?!
I had a WTH moment when I first saw this. Mainly because who does this? It’s sad enough the two people are getting a divorce but to throw a party in celebration is just awkward. What would the conversation at the party go like?
Guest: “Well, Jack thanks for inviting me to your divorce party, and let’s be honest I knew from day 1 you guys wouldn’t make it.”
Jack White: “That’s understandable and thanks for coming!”
I mean SERIOUSLY who throws a divorce party? I think what this ultimately shows is that fact that by throwing a party honoring a divorce shows societies view on marriage and divorce. Because honestly if you are going to consider divorce down the road why even get married in the first place? Marriage isn’t temporary, it’s not because you want to have kids and then when times get tough you throw a divorce party celebrating the good times. Un-freakin-believable.
I can’t be the only one who thinks this is crazy. The invitation says there will be dancing, drinks, and its to celebrate the past and to “re-affirm” their friendship to their friends. Well honestly, if the marriage didn’t last why should your friends think your friendship will?
Also, what is going to happen next? Are they going to throw a party to announce the fact that they have become casual acquaintances?
That they will continue to speak but only online and via their publicists with released statements. I could go on but I won’t, I just think that the whole idea of throwing a party to celebrate a divorce is a little ridiculous.
