Katy Perry is on the cover of Rolling Stone again and in the interview she is talking about Universal Heatlh Care, big money, and praying for breasts?

“I started praying for [breasts] when I was, like, 11,” she says. “And God answered that prayer above and beyond, by, like, 100 times, until I was like, ‘Please, stop, God. I can’t see my feet anymore. Please stop!’” she recalls. The quick development led to taunts in adolescence. “I didn’t know I could use them. So, what I did was, I started taping them down. How long did I tape them down for? Probably until I was about 19. And, no, I don’t have any psychological pain because of it.”

The juxtaposition between her and her father is so different and interesting. I had a chance to talk to him about his career as a preacher and his daughter as a pop star. I honestly wonder what he thinks about when he reads these interviews his daughters does. Hear the interview below.

This is the premiere of Rise Against’s new music video, “Make It Stop (September’s Children).” This video was filmed at the lead singers old high school and deals with bullying. A topic that has been an important issue of late with the multiple teen suicides this year. The video ends with Dan Savage’s “It Gets Better” Project, and features videos from celebs and everyday people telling LGBT youths that life does get better.

“I decided to create the song as a response, and when I discovered the It Gets Better campaign and Dan Savage’s commitment to such an important and concise message, I was moved,” McIlrath said. “I immediately felt that if our song is the road, then the It Gets Better campaign is the destination. I hope the synergy between the two can reach people and make a difference.”

What do you make of the video and Rise Agianst’s decision to support anti-bullying? Do you think this is an important issue that affects the youth of America?

I get to interview a lot of people, typically they are musicians usually people in bands. Sometimes I get to interview rappers, authors, and documentary film makers. However this time I got to interview one of the biggest pop stars’ father. I never thought working in rock radio would get me the chance to interview Katy Perry’s father. This is a man who has been in ministry for 39 years, who gets to travel the world teaching and preaching the gospel, and has a daughter who is one of the biggest names in pop music. The juxtaposition is there, Katy Perry started off singing gospel music and now sings about menage a trois. The dynamic between his career and hers is interesting. However despite his daughters choices Keith remains steadfast with his teaching and speaking. Keith was an interesting person to talk to and while I wish we had more time to dive in deeper about his career and Katy’s you can tell he loves his daughter, and his son in law.
